VINEYARD

The 18 hectares of vines (8 owned, 10 leased) worked by the Maison Rouge team are located in central Valais, between Sierre and Leytron. This geographical spread provides a variety of geological profiles and microclimates.

Each grape variety cultivated by the viticultural team has ideal land and climatic conditions. Paien, Arvine, Johannisberg, Humagne Blanc, Cornalin, Humagne Rouge and Pinot Noir have been planted in the Sierre region. The Sion vineyard has been dedicated to Marsanne Blanche and Tempranillo. Johannisberg, Arvine, Paien, Merlot and Syrah thrive in the Chamoson vineyard. Conthey hosts a Petite Arvine, Fendant and Merlot estate, while Humagne Rouge and Humagne Blanc benefit from the Leytron terroir.

Since the company's beginnings, the team has been committed to modernising the vineyard. All plots are now wire-trained, allowing small-scale mechanisation that is very useful in terms of profitability and efficiency. Maison Rouge is dedicated to producing wines that respect nature. The entire estate is cultivated organically and since 2021 has been in organic conversion. The entire estate is cultivated according to biodynamic principles.

To watch over this precious viticultural heritage, the company secured the services of a competent professional at the end of 2016 in the person of Georges Emery, new technical director of the Maison Rouge vineyard.
